After reset Windows 11 I don't want to overwrite this version when recovering my Acronis C: and D: backup

Thread needs solution

I use a new Dell desktop XPS 8940.Windows 11 gave after a Microsoft update a blue window with a stopcode. I had to reset the system. Now I have a clean Windows 11 system. I installed my Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office again and want to recover the backup of my complete desktop with is on an external disk.

Acronis now doesn't recognise the backups I made before resetting becouse of the cleaned system.

I have two questions:

1.How can I restore with my backup ?

2. I don't want that the restoring is overwriting my cleaned Windows files. Is that possible ?

I'm Dutch and hope you understand my english

Greetings

HoHe, if you have created a Disks & Partitions backup of your Windows 11 system disk, then if you restore this as the same, it will overwrite the complete disk and recreate all the partitions as they were at the time the backup was created.

There is no option to only restore individual programs or applications without restoring the OS too, though you could restore only your user data from the backup.  You would need to reinstall any programs etc normally.

Please see KB 19296: Acronis products cannot be used to transfer applications to different system or upgrade OS
