Build 40107 install stopped as malware; PC unbootable
Just tried to install build 40107 from Aug 30.
BitDefender was triggers seeing malware & made PC unbootable.
After failed install, Acronis was unable to run. I rebooted and got BDOS. I had to enter my key to do a repair and rollback in order to boot to windows.
Unfortunately, the rollback means I don't have any of the specific details on what BitDefender flagged during install and I do not want to risk disabling my PC again.
Wondering if anyone else has tried to install 40107 with BitDefender. And NO, I'm not going to just turn off BitDefender to do an install. Not yet.

I see you are running Windows insider build, not sure if that has anything to do with it. I have a PC with Windows 11 Release Preview, but that is not comparable as it does not have third party software similar to yours. However I had a blue screen of death on another PC running Windows 10 where I had Norton 360 installed. Again not comparable, as I was able to successfully install.
While Acronis do not officially support installation on insider builds, I have never had an issue with the PC running Windows 11 Insider Release Preview. Have you installed any major Windows updates recently, as that could be the cause.

Same experience here. Also running Bitdefender. It quarantines several DLL’s of Acronis during installation. It detects the Windows Installer Service as malware. Restoring the quarantined files doesn’t work, since it’s not able to restore to ‘c:\program files (x86) ‘, due to user account control. After a subsequent reboot, I also got the BSOD. I’m not running an insider build. Why doesn’t the installer do a full rollback if it detects an issue? The issue is caused by the upper and lower filter drivers that are missing after a failed install, but the registry entries are created. Hence, windows fails to boot.

Frank, thanks for posting here as well as you initial post.
As I think I said above, I had no problems installing on PCs with Norton 360.
As far as I can recall, no similar issues during beta testing - however, there was a much smaller pool of beta testers than usual - possibly due to the new build being a stop-gap while the code rebuild is being completed.
It goes without saying this is a major problem; I have reported it to the ACPHO Product Manager Arpita Ghosh.
