Confusion ATI 2021 vs Cyber Protect Home Office

Thread needs solution

Hey there,

for private use I used the ATI2019.

I now wanted to upgrade and via the upgrade channel, I upgraded today to ATI2021 as a perpetual license for 5 PCs.

Now I am wondering why the most recent build for ATI2021 is 39216 from march whereas the must recent build for CPHO seems to be 39703 from october.....

I was told, the only difference between ATI2021 and CPHO is that ATI2021 is a permanent license whereas CPHO is a subscriton.

Was this a wrong information and ATI2021 is not updated in the same way as CPHO is ?!?!

Regards

Sven,

Basically, ACPHO is a name change with some fixes. The name change is in prep for the approach to be taken with the 2022 product and with that they are no longer doing perpetual licensing.

That said, I don't know if the perpetual license will give you the latest build with the name change or not. Does your product say you have the latest version?

Bruno,

Well I didn´t install the upgrade yet as I do not want to do anything that might prevent a rollback and refund of the purchase. If ATI2021 is not in the same maintenance as ACPHO I try to go for ACPHO.

So my knowledge is only based in the threads here in the forum, where the newest builds for the different versions are the upper mentioned ones.
And the latest version of ATI2021 I can download in my account is the 39216.

The latest of ACPHO is 39703 and as they start both with "39" I assume, that this is the same build chain and ATI2021 is slightly outdated.

ATI 2021 is no longer a supported product for any further updates following the public release of ACPHO, so the build version of the latter will always be later than that of 2021.

The key difference other than builds is that ACPHO is not available as a perpetual license so if you go this route you are tied in to an annual subscription.

For reference #39703 is actually the third update build for ACPHO since it was released whereas #39216 is the ninth update build for ATI 2021.

Hi Steve,

okay so my assumption seems to be correct.

So Acronis - and their distributors - sell an outdated product with no hint, that it is not supported any more.

Sorry Acronis, is that a fair behaviour ?

So I will cancel the purchase and aim for a refund because I obviously got wrong information from the sales guy.

Sven, perpetual licensed Acronis products such as your ATI 2019 will continue to work for you including with Windows 11 so the only benefit of upgrading to a later version would be if you wanted to take advantage of any new features being introduced.

ATI 2020 and later brought in the use of .tibx files for Disks & Partitions backups but this has been more of a 'work in progress' than a polished mature feature!

ATI 2021 and ACPHO brought in Acronis Cyber Protect features which many users never asked for or wanted - where Acronis are entering the crowded antivirus market and hence have moved to subscription licenses to cover some of the costs of this unwelcome change!

There have been very many discussions on these changes in the forums between users but Acronis look to have no inclination to listen to the complaints about dropping perpetual licenses and attempting to force users into their Cyber Protect arena!
