Failed to Lock File Error - CPHO - Drobo Backup - Why and How to Fix?

Thread needs solution

Why would I be getting a failure to lock file error on a new install (yesterday) of CPHO on a newly installed SSD on a new (also yesterday) build of Windows 10 when I am trying to backup to a Drobo NAS, on my local network?

CPHO says I am connected, I can see the drive in file explorer, and I can access the same Drobo NAS drive using CPHO to restore files from a previous backup (1 year old).

No, I am not trying to backup to the cloud, nor do I want to.

How do I solve this problem?

Ian, sorry but not enough information provided to give you an answer here.

What exactly are you backing up here?

What type of backup is being done?  Disks & Partitions / Files & Folders?

Which file is causing the lock error message?  The log for the backup task should have more information to identify the file!

You need to be using the new log viewer tool per the link below.

MVP Assistant - a new tool, including new Log Viewer (Latest version 1.1.4.0, 9/27/2021)

If you have Disks & Partitions backups created on ATI 2020 or later using .tibx files, then look in the Backup Worker logs.

If you have Files & Folders backups using .tib files (or Disk backups from earlier versions using .tib files) or using Cloning then look in the Demon logs.

Other logs are shown by the MVP Assistant under the 'Active Logs' heading of the Log Viewer page of the Assistant.

The log files should be zipped to preserve their original file names if sharing in the forums and would need to be less than 3MB in size, otherwise you would need to share the zip file via a Cloud share service such as OneDrive, Dropbox etc.
