HELP NEEDED: Endless scan in exclude files while cloning disk

Thread needs solution

Hi!

I've bought a Kingston KC2500 SSD 256 GB for adding to my laptop as a boot disk and keeping the old 1 TB HDD for data. Current disk is partitioned as C: 300 GB for Windows system boot (125 GB used) and the rest as E: for data.

I've downloaded the last version of ATI and activated it with the license included in the new SSD.

When I try to clone using the automatic option I receive a message saying that source is larger than destination (which is correct) so I exclude the E: partition to fit in the new SSD. Then ATI starts scanning the files again and never ends.

Could you help me, please?

Thanks

Ramon, welcome to these public User Forums.

See KB 2201: Support for OEM Versions of Acronis Products which applies to all OEM versions of ATI supplied with hardware purchases.

I would not recommend using Cloning for your migration scenario!  This is a case where I would recommend using Backup and Recovery, i.e. make a Backup of the the C: OS partition plus the hidden / system partitions required by Windows to boot correctly, just omitting your larger E: data partition, then recovering that backup image to the new SSD when it has been installed inside your laptop.
