My backup no longer runs on schedule

Thread needs solution

I'm using Acronis True Image 2021 two backup the SSD drive containing my Windows 10 partition. The backup is Scheduled to run daily at 11 PM. Initially, that worked fine. Lately, the backup no longer runs on schedule, but instead starts the first time I power up my computer each day. It does so, despite the fact that all indications are that the backup is scheduled for 11 PM. So, all indications are that it's ignoring the schedule, but launching a backup when time I power up my laptop each morning.

Edgar, welcome to these public User Forums.

My first suggestion would be to try setting the task to be Not Scheduled, save the setting then go back in and set it to run at 11 PM as before.  This should remove the scheduled task entry then add it back again, clearing any issues with the scheduler list.

If that doesn't resolve the issue, then download a copy of the Acronis Scheduler Manager (link below) and use that to completely clear all schedule entries by running the 'task zap' command from the tool panel.  You will need to reset the schedule after using the zap command.

I migrated from a Win 10 laptop to a Win 11 desktop.  The desktop goes into a fairly deep sleep (I investigated Modified Sleep levels) and I could not get an event to fire in the Task Scheduler to wake up my desktop, so that Acronis could back up to our NAS unattended in the early morning hours.  I spent many hours trying to figure this out, and ultimately I found and implemented an RTC Alarm in the BIOS to wake up my desktop a minute before that back up is scheduled to start.  For the past couple of days, this has been working flawlessly.  Maybe this solution will help someone else.
