Nightly backup from Desktop to NAS drive gets redirected to local C drive which is not large enough

Thread solved

I saw some other treads on this but no solution.  Has anyone resolved this issue?

I have Acronis 2021 and for a year or so it was doing my nightly backups perfectly to my Synology NAS drives.  Then sometime  last spring it started redirecting the backups to my C: drive which would then fill up, run out of space, and the backup would fail.

I've been able to manually initiate a backup the the NAS that works but when I set it to do the backup automatically overnight the same thing happens.  I even tried uninstalling Acronis and reinstalling it, and deleting my backup settings and then re-doing them.   Nothing has worked.

Larry, unfortunately this was a known issue that is still catching out users who haven't noticed that their backup task settings have been returned to default values, including a change of destination for some NAS users!

This is an Acronis issue - see forum topic: True Image 2020 -Backup option settings loss

I can only recommend that you and any other affected users contact Arpita Ghosh who is the new Acronis Product Manager for these home products! (Arpita.Ghosh@acronis.com).

In terms of remedies to avoid being hit by this same issue (assuming that Acronis don't take action to ensure it never happens again!) then you can do the following:

Open Windows Services (services.msc) and set the Acronis Managed Machine Service Mini from Automatic start to Manual start (or Disabled).

In the ATI GUI (assuming you have a Perpetual license) sign out from your Acronis Account.

Doing the above should prevent the Acronis Online Dashboard servers from sending out any data that would result in resetting your Backup task options back to defaults again!

Thanks for the help.  I had previously tried the first step of your fix, the change to Windows Services, but hadn't caught the second part about signing out of the Acronis Account.   That worked and my backups have been working correctly now.  Thanks for you're help!
