Not showing My Cloud Home/Browse not an option
Hi- I am new to Acronis. I have two WD drives, a WD My Cloud and a new WD My Cloud Home. When I go to create a back up the WD Home does not show up and the browse option is gray out and I can not select it. Any suggestions on how I can get the back up to recognize the Home and not just the older My Cloud.

Hi Steve and thanks for the reply . The Home is connect via my home wifi/router. I can see it as a network dive (z) in my file explorer. I am using ATI 2021. I am running Windows 8.1. I had no idea what SMB was till I read the link you sent. I think if I am doing this right I have SMB 1.
Thanks again from a novice.

Kim, SMB 1 has been deprecated by Microsoft due to lots of vulnerabilities, so it is possible that your WD My Cloud Home may also have dropped support for SMB 1 too.
You should take a look at the settings / configuration pages of the WD Home box to see what this shows as options.
See webpage: WD NAS Can’t Be Seen In Windows? Here Are The Solutions! - and scroll down the page to the section with the heading: Alternate Solution : Enable Network Discovery Without SMB1 where it gives the following steps to use: Note: this is focussed on Windows 10, so not sure if the same options are available for Windows 8.1 or even if this applies or not?
This Windows 10 workaround can be used if your WD NAS supports SMB2 or SMB3 and you prefer not to map the network drives.
- Go to Windows Services.
- Start these two services :
– Function Discovery Provider Host
– Function Discovery Resource Publication- Set the Startup type for both those services to Automatic (Delayed Start).
- Open Windows File Explorer and go to Network.
- When prompted, enable Network Discovery.
Your WD NAS shares should now be visible in Windows File Explorer.
