PC will not boot

Thread needs solution

Hi there, last week I upgraded to True Image 2021.  Today my pc wont boot windows.  It immediately runs a script to start Trueimage_starter.exe

I cannot get into the boot settings or BIOS to change the boot order, it will only boot to the true image starter.  I disabled the option for it to boot to this and yet it does the same thing every time.  I have even tried restoring an image from yesterday to see if that would sort it but it doesn’t.  The Acronis backups go to a an external hard drive, which restored the backup from yesterday but it still will not boot windows.  I am honestly stuck with no idea.  I have tried all F1-12 buttons, the delete, nothing works at all.  Update - I went into the Acronis secure zone and I can see now that the pc isn’t seeing my main SSD drive. It’s seeing my two external drives.

Phil, it sounds to me as if you have taken the option to create an Acronis Survival Kit on one of your external drives, and these drives are set to boot ahead of your Windows SSD in the BIOS settings.  Are you seeing the following script entries when you are booting?

X:\windows\system32>wpeinit

X:\windows\system32>"X:\Program Files\Acronis\TrueImageHome\trueimage_starter.exe"

If so, then shutdown and disconnect all your external drives and then try booting into Windows again and you should be back to normal.
