Protection Exclusions

Thread solved

I checked my "Protection Exclusions" and discovered that C:\Windows\explorer.exe is identified (by Acronis) with a permission of "Allowed All".  It is unchecked. What do the following options mean:

1. unchecked -- Explorer.exe  allowed all

2. unchecked -- Explorer.exe  allowed

3. checked -- Explorer.exe allowed all

4. checked -- Explorer.exe allowed

5 removal of Explorer.exe from list

Thanks in advance for your help.

Unfortunately there is no official statement concerning permission exclusions thus, Support would need to be contacted.

Hello Richard,

usually, explorer.exe is added to the list of Allowed processes during a user's attempt to move, rename, delete or modify Acronis backup files in Windows Explorer, when Active Protection asks whether you want to allow the Explorer to perform operations with backup files (like on the screenshot in https://kb.acronis.com/content/60193)

Ekaterina - I had to turn off active protection because I could not find what about my Firefox setup it didn't like. I have a bunch of windows and tabs and that's not optional - it's how I work. I manage on average the creation and deletion of over 100 tabs a day, with 700 total, and maybe 200 of those are loaded. The process uses from 5 to 8 Gb of memory by itself. Is there a way to completely exclude all Firefox processes?

Dear Johnny,
Would you mind providing more information on the issue.
First of all, what product version do you have?
Secondly, if  the web filtering enabled?

You may exclude Firefox from active protection following the steps:
1. On the Protection dashboard, click Protection exclusions.
2. From the Add exclusion menu, select what you want to exclude.
 - Add file—to exclude executable or other files from scanning.
 - Add folder—to exclude folders from scanning.
3. Browse for the item that you want to exclude and click Open.
4. Add another item to exclude or click Save to update the list.

But please note web filtering is responsible for URL monitoring.
