"Protection Not Up To Date" tray notification despite Protection permanently disabled - how to stop??
This annoying bug present since introduction of Cyber Protect, and not fixed in new update.
I use Bitdefender in Windows 11 Pro for protection, and per Acronis warning, I have permanently disabled Acronis Protection to avoid conflict. But every few days, the Acronis tray icon shows a notification that "Protection is not up to date". It is annoying - I always have to check that it isn't telling me one of my backups failed.
Why is it even checking protection update status if Protection is permanently disabled?
I enabled Protection long enough to allow me to try "automatically update Protection" checked and unchecked (which cannot be accessed while disabled) - neither eliminates the notifications.
If I enable Protection and manually update, the notification goes away until the next update is released a few days later,
How to get rid of this??

Steve Smith wrote:I have not seen this issue and also have all Protection turned off permanently!
One key difference that may be in play here is that before turning off Protection, I opened the Protection Settings and on the Advanced page I also turned off the option to check for updates automatically!
I know this is an old thread, but I also had this issue as the OP. I did as you said Steve and this worked for me. I reactivated the protection and unchecked the box to check for updates automatically then deactivated the protection. So just wanted to confirm this is the solution. Thanks for the tip!

If you're running the latest version and are not using the Acronis protection, I suggest not installing the protection features.

Interesting, I am doing the 30-day trial then I am going to purchase the $49.99 version. When I do this I guess I will have the option to do this. Or should I just reinstall the trial and not install the protection? I did see the option to not install it. I saw the option to just manually turn it off and went with that. I guess that is not a good idea.

Chris, you should be able to use the Windows Setting/Apps and there will be a Modify option. From that you can deselect the protection stuff and just leave the backup capability.

Thank you BrunoC. You were a great help. Protection has been removed.

Glad you got it going, Cris. It isn't always obvious that the component can be uninstalled or not chosen for initial install. That's new with the latest version.
