Restore just some files to a new computer

Thread solved

Hi,
I need some help please to restore my files to my new computer.
Note: this is NOT restoring the system (to dissimilar hardware or not)
These are just my data type files
On the old computer they were backed up to NAS using an incremental model.

I saved the settings from the old computer and they have imported to the new.
If try and restore using just that it says 'no backups yet'

All I can find on google is a method of 'mounting' backups but do I mount the base or the last increment?
In the end that doesn't matter the all give 'Specified archive cannot be mounted because it contains no partitions'

I was really hoping to just continue the same regular backup jobs with the new system.

How do I get my files back - hopefully without a complicated rescue ?
Thanks
JC

John, you should be able to just double click on a backup file from Windows Explorer. Just pick any of the recent chain and it will show you all the backup date choices. You can select one and just navigate to what you want and copy it over to another to a folder on your system. It's very easy.

BrunoC,

Sorry for the late response on this.  Thank you for the advice, this technique did work but with a backup of over 300GB its not exactly 'responsive'.

John, glad you got where you wanted to get; and yes, it is not particularly responsive (even on a Ryzen 5950X with 32gig of RAM and PCIe 4 M.2 drive.
