unable to modify the scripts folder

Thread solved

hello,

Running TI 2021-39287, i am unable to modify the "C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts" folder....

I tried to modify the owner, with associated "full control", but it does not work...

Thanks for your help

Jean, this is expected behaviour when Acronis Active Protection is enabled / the background service(s) are running.  Acronis do not want users to modify the scripts contents.

Hello Steve,

Thanks for your answer, but i know that...

I tried also desactivating the active protection, without success.

I need once per week to replace all "tis" files from a saved script folder to the protected script folder to be able to restart a weekly saving scheme (this was working whith the previous versions of Acronis) .
I know that i can run Windows in safe mode and modify the folder contents, but it is difficult to automate this from Windows normal mode. So what are the possibilités ??

Thanks for your answer

There is no easy way of automating this type of change unfortunately as Acronis have tried to harden the security around Cyber Protection to prevent this type of 'attack' which is how malware might try to disable such protection.

In terms of a manual approach, then you would need to open the Windows Services control panel (services.msc) then set all the ACP & AAP services to 'Disabled' start, then restart the computer and ensure that Acronis is not launched either via a desktop icon or scheduled task etc.

You should then be able to replace the .tis files before reversing the services changes & starting them to run.

In my opinion, the easiest thing would be to start the computer in "Safe Mode" with "Shift" and "restart", then you should be able to change the contents of the "Scripts" folder (if the user rights allow it).

Thanks Steve for your answer.

I was not remembering but a few versions ago, I got the same problem.. And i corrected it using two Windows scheduled tasks..

The first One sets the two Acronis services in manual mode at Windows shut down (This stops the services to start at the next Windows start up)

The second one start the two services and sets them in auto, one hour after Windows start up (1 hour is plenty of time to manipulate the Scripts folder via scripts files)

So i re-enabled the two tasks (disabled i dont know why), and everythings is working well.

Thanks also to G. Uphoff answer, but it is not easy to automate the safe mode with the normal mode.

Anyway Thanks to both of you...
