Use ACPHO with 3rd party antivirus, but KEEP ACPHO anti-ransomware

Thread solved

On many machines we prefer to continue using eset anti-virus for our main antivirus software.  But would like Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office (ACPHO) to still be active for just the anti-ransomware protection.

What is the proper way to do this.  I couldn't find an official acronis documentation on this since they all recommend removing the 3rd party antivirus.  .. they should provide instructions for us how to make the acpho and 3rd party antivirus play nicely together, but they acronis didn't provide any clear instructions on this.. shame.

I assume we would just toggle OFF the "real time protection" and leave toggled ON "anti-ransomware protection."   But I need to know this for sure.. officially.  For example there is a concern that the anti-ransomware is dependent on the real-time protection being enabled.

What is the official way to do this?

thank you!

ps, we also disable scheduled antivirus scans in acpho.

I take that approach with most of my PCs - see attached screenshot.

Thanks Ian.  That's pretty much what I did too, but it looks a bit different in 2022 version of cyber protect home office.

I am guessing that the anti-ransomware still works as it should, with real-time av turned off, but I would like a confirmation of that, if possible.  Is this actually true?

Yes I am sure it does; about a year ago ATI 2021 picked up that malware in an email was trying to encrypt files (in My Documents folder), shut it down and was able to recover the files - Norton 360 had not had a chance to pick it up beforehand.

thanks.

when you said "shut it down"  do you mean acronis stopped the encryption or did it just notify you and you shutdown the pc?

It stopped the malware from doing encryption, and deleted it.
