Andrew, welcome to these public User Forums.

See KB 2201: Support for OEM Versions of Acronis Products which applies to all OEM versions of ATI supplied with hardware purchases.

All Acronis backups are stored in special archive files using .tib or .tibx file extensions, so to see the contents you would need to open these files either within the OEM WD Acronis GUI or else you can double-click on the files in Explorer to see their contents.

Thanks Steve, But I feel sort of blind - How can I know if the back up is complete without gaps , no way for me to spot check it manually   ?  Andy

Andy, a lot will depend on what type of backup you are doing here?

If you are making a Disks & Partitions backup then you have the option of being able to Mount the image to a drive letter that would then allow you to use a file / folder synchronisation program to compare the contents against the source drive.  This has its own limitations as such a backup image will include lots of system files that are constantly changing due to how the OS works!

If you are making a Files & Folders backup, then this cannot be mounted as contains no partition (required to use Mount), so your options are more limited.

The log for each backup task should contain messages if any files or folders cannot be captured by the backup operation, i.e. if any files are blocked by an active application or antivirus etc.

Beyond the above, any backup could be restored to a spare drive to allow comparison via that method.
