Bring Perpetual licensing back.
For years, Acronis offered perpetual licences for home users. I've used the True Image product for over 15 years: sadly, 2021 may be the very last I purchase. But now, like other companies listening to the consultants saying subscription is the way to get a steady cash flow, perpetual from Acronis is 'history". The company seems not to appreciate that home users don't have the luxury of tax deductions for software used at home, and in hard economic times the household budget doesn't normally extend to getting the latest version, every year, and managing my spend on software is important. I refuse to get subscription licences on principal; I have no intention of allowing a vendor to march into my bank accounts, unsupervised. And I know I am not the only one - the tech guru who first recommended Acronis True Image to me over 15 years ago has the same attitude, and I am not the only one in this boat.
So whilst the true Image software is great, unless Acronis is willing to revise its approach, I and others I am in contact with will stick with 2021 and in the next year or so they will probably lose my business for a product which offers satisfactory performance using a perpetual license.
The use of cloud storage eventually penetrated the corporate mindset: in most places in the world the local asynchronous broadband is not good enough for acceptable performance saving to the cloud. So now an essential license without cloud is available. Bringing back a perpetual licence would be a product improvement, not an embarrassment, even if it is a choice of perpetual or subscription. You can have it both ways.
