ACRONIS DIRECTOR 12

Thread needs solution

Could a good soul help me out ?

I have Acronis Director 12 (Home) that shows two separate disks:

  • Disk 1 - C:\; E:\
  • Disk 2 - D:\

Yet, E:\ is a physically unique disk drive on its own, while D:\ is a partition of C:\

How can I merge C:\ and D:\  together ? to increase the size of my C:\ ?

I'd really appreciate your assistance !

Many thx in advance !

Jacques

Hello Jacques,

Before making any changes to your disks, it is better to create a backup copy of your system just to be on the safe side. If anything goes wrong during merging, you could always revert all the changes by restoring from that backup. See instructions how to do that with built-in Windows backup tool: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/back-up-programs-system-settings-files and http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/create-a-system-repair-disc. Alternatively, you can use another Acronis program for saving your system state before merging partitions: Acronis True Image 2016 (a trial version would fit that purpose).

To merge two partitions that reside on one physical disk, first click on your C: partition in Disk Director window, then click on Merge volume, mark your second partition, click OK, click Commit pending operations in the left upper part, click Continue. The program will prompt for reboot, please agree and proceed.

If you are confused about drive letters shown in Acronis Disk Director, you can confirm whether they are correct in Windows built-in Disk Management tool: open Start menu, type diskmgmt.msc and press Enter.

See more details about merging volumes in the user guide http://www.acronis.com/en-us/download/docs/add12h/userguide/, page 31.
