Acronis Loader: No Configuration File Present

Thread needs solution

Greetings,
Dual boot winxp and linux (slackware)
DD 10.

I disabled OS selector while in windows before a defrag.
OS selector stated that windows was my primary os, so I thought it would be ok.
I do not have a backup disk.
when I reboot i get the message "Acronis Loader: No Configuration File Present" press enter to reboot.

if I use F8 I get the selection of drives, but only my linux drive will load.
If I select the drive with windows I get the same message "Acronis Loader: No Configuration File Present" press enter to reboot.

I have downloaded the .iso image for DD 10 but my options are limited.

If I can just get access to the os selector program I can enable it again.

Last time I ran defrag all I had to do was disable then enable it again and it worked fine when i rebooted.

Thank you in advance for any help.

The downloaded ISO doesn't include the OSS programs. You would need to create one with DD in Windows and include them.

Otherwise, you can reset the MBR and boot into Windows where you can reactivte OSS. To do this, make sure the XP partition is Active and then boot to the XP CD, enter the Recovery Console, and run fixmbr command. Once booted back into Windows you can reactivate OSS.

The XP .iso I have only let me "reinstall". Which I did saving all my files.

After install the system boots directly to XP.

the Acronis folder is still available, but I haven't set it up yet. Am going to create a rescue disc before I reboot the system.

This whole experience has been a wake up call for me to ensure that I create rescue discs.

Will post my results later.

Thank You for your time.

You should definately make a new DD CD that includes the OSS programs before you do anything else.
