Acronis Recovery Expert Won't Launch - DD11 Win 7 x64

Thread needs solution

I cannot get Acronis Recovery Expert to launch on my machine, the button does nothing.

The bootable media creator launches fine, but I can't get the recovery expert to launch.

Since DD11 just bluescreened whilst resizing a partition resulting in my losing an entire partition, so getting the goddamned recovery expert running is rather important.

I installed from the trial and used my purchased key, but the recovery expert wouldn't launch. Then installing the downloaded commercial software over the top did nothing...

... and now finally I can't even uninstall the bloody thing because I get "Cannot initialize the necessary Acronis OS Selector modules. Please reinstall Acronis OS Selector".

Great software guys, well done.

"Install Acronis OS Selector" appears in the Disk Director program folder, but it generates the same error as attempting to uninstall the software.

This is under Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Fortunately all data is stored on other drives, I've only lost installations, but seriously, what the hell is wrong with this thing?

Exact same problem here on a Win XP SP3 - hitting the "Recovery Expert"-Button does exactly *nothing*.
Any help? I bought the software for exactly that feature ...
Help would be greatly appreciated!

I have noticed that Recovery Expert doesn't load at times, but it usually does after several tries. However, it definately isn't consistent so there is a problem.

Have you tried starting Recovery Expert directly? Browse to the DD installation folder (usually C:\Program Files\Acronis\DiskDirector) and try running RecoveryExpert.exe.

I found that the recovery expert didn't install if you bought the trial version and then upgraded to retail.

I had to install the full retail version in order to get the recovery expert to work, once I got the trial software removed which was a whole other pain in the ass.

Hmm, MudCrab - it is consistent on my installation: It never starts ;-)
BTW: Version info reads: "Acronis Disk Director 11 Home für Windows (Build 11.0.216)".

When I try starting directly, I get the attached message ("Der Prozedureinsprungpunkt "sbCreateVssSnapshot" wurde in der DLL "snapapi.dll" nicht gefunden."). So no succes here either.

kyoseki, I did not install the trial but directly the full version.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling DD?

Do you also have TI installed? If so, what version and build?
