BartPE DD CD, reboot required for completing this operation
I created a BartPE bootable CD with the DD10 plug-in. In most cases, DD works fine. But sometimes after I click Proceed (to commit), DD reports "a reboot is required for completing this operation ..." Since I'm booting from CD, that's obviously not going to work.
For example, if I try to resize a particular partition by adjusting its starting position, I get this issue. However, I can resize another partition just fine.
Anyone have a solution or any tips?
Thanks.

MudCrab, I'm unclear on what you mean by Full Mode and Safe Mode. But running DD under Windows works fine; however, I need the ability to run "offline". I'm using BartPE to do that because I need my own RAID driver.
Here's a new clue: If I resize a different partition (arbitrarily) and then return to the one that caused a reboot to be required, it now proceeds without complaint. Both are logical partitions in the same extended partition, and are not adjacent. The problem one contains a Win7 system and the other just data.
Thus I think you may be on to something about the partition being locked, and somehow my resizing another partition frees it up. However, to answer your first question, I'm not running anything else in BartPE (knowingly, at least). When BartPE boots, I decline to start the network, then launch DD.
Any idea as to how I'd determine if it is locked, or have a more straightforward way of unlocking it?
(What I'm doing is setting up a multi-boot system and experimenting with what happens to the BCD and Windows drive letters if I change the starting position of partitions. Some of your posts on another site have been most helpful.)

The Full and Safe Mode versions are the ones you can included on the DD CD when you create one using the Media Builder program. The Full Mode version is Linux-based and the Safe Mode version is DOS-based. You should also be able to download an ISO for DD from your Acronis account. This ISO only contains the Full Mode version, but it's more updated than the one created by Media Builder and may contain the driver you need.
I suspect that the problem is something with either the setup of the partition or how DD is detecting it. The fact that you can resize it after resizing another partition seems to point to a detection problem.
Nothing in a standard BartPE build should be locking the partition. Have you run a chkdsk /f on the partition (probably best run from Windows 7, not BartPE). It probably wouldn't hurt to run chkdsk /f on all the other partitions as well.
Is DD reporting all the drive and partition information correctly?
What build of DD are you using?

Thanks, MudCrab, for the clarification on Modes. I have problems with the ISO version due to using USB keyboard and mouse, and as I mentioned, I need RAID drivers loaded, thus BartPE.
I've run chkdsk, no problems, though not on all partitions. Yes, DD appears to be reporting all info correctly.
Build 2160.
I've now discovered a work-around that's acceptable. In DD I relabel some other partition (the subject partition won't allow this without "reboot"), then relabel it back to the original. Takes just a few seconds. After that I can manipulate the subject partition.
If that gives anyone a clue as to how I could avoid the work-around, I'd appreciate it. However, DD is usable with my work-around.
Thanks.

Hello Jean-Claude,
The issue you are experiencing us unknown, could you please provide us with some details? What does exactly happen after the "Reboot required" message? Do you experience the same issue in build #2239?
We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.
Thank you.
