Booting from rescue media no USB Keybeard and usb mouse available
Hi, when booting from my acronis rescue medium, my Fujitsu Siemens wireless USB keyboard and - mouse are not available, so I can't do anything but wait for OS to boot automatically.
Working in BIOS with same keyboard is OK.
This is as well on rescue media created with DDS11/TIH2010 and DDS10/TIH2010 (both media with Linux kernel).
It works fine with PS/2 keyboard/mouse. But it is boring to change keyboard/mouse connection everytime I need working with rescue media.
I have latest build 7046 of TIH2010 installed. I have also latest build of DDS11 installed.
Any idea?

Sorry, no USB Legacy settings in BIOS available. Pressing F11 doesn't work, for USB keyboard isn't available.
The search function told me, that I'm not alone with this issue, unfortunately I found no solution for it.
Any other suggestions?

F11 doesn't even work on the Acronis menu?
You can create a new CD with Media Builder and add the parameter so you can try it. Use CD-RW media if you don't want to waste discs.

Another parameter you could try if Mudcrab's one doesn't work is:
nomouse
or
acpi=off

yes. As I wrote above: neither my usb keyboard nor usb mouse is avaialble after booting to acronis menu. It works fine before booting into acronis menu (BIOS), and after booting into OS.

So I'll do.
@Colin, thanx for reply. I will try your suggestion, if the new created medium with usbmouse=off parameter for Linux doesn't work. You will see the results of my attempts.

Unfortunately no success. First attempt was adding usbmouse=off to the linux boot parameter. Same result as before. Second try was to add 'usbmouse=off nomouse acpi=off' . Same result as before. The Keyboard works to enter BIOS but booting into Acronis menu, no keyboard nor mouse is available when acronis menu apears.
In addition to that I recognized that the rescue media menu built from my 32bit looks different than that one built on my 64bit computer (on 32bit I get 'TI abgesicherte Version' additionally in menu, which is not included in media built on my 64bit computer). On both computers TI 2010 incl.Plus Pack and DDS 11 is installed with same features. Bug or feature?
More important for me is a solution for the missing keyboard/mouse issue.
Thanx for every new idea.

It might be worth seeing if Acronsi have an ISO version of the boot media. this uses a different Linux Kernel and drivers.
If there is a bootable media option in your Acronis account for DD11, download this and see if this works as this will use BIOS calls and is DOS based.

Hi Colin, it was worth testing the bootable media versions of both, TI 2010 PlusPack and DDS11. They both work with my USB keyboard/mouse kit. So I can live with that solution - for the first time. But I would appreciate if it would be possible to create a single rescue media containing both applications - combined with the boot code of the downloadable boot media. Is there a chance to get it in the near future?
Is it possible to extract the boot code of the boot media and inject it into the created rescue media created with the installed applications? As administrator for a heterogeneous development group, I use to deal with complicated stuff :-).
Thanx to you and MudGrab for your assistance in this issue.

Hi Jürgen,
Both Programs TI2010 and DD11 aren't yet really ready for working on a Windows 7 64-bit OS. Creating a rescue media from DD11 on this OS gives crab (linux not booting because of missing RAM disk, many files are not copied to the rescue disk). Creating it from TI2010 on this OS will result in a bootable rescue disk with both applications on it but with no usb keyboard and no usb mouse functionality. Tested on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit with TI2010, Build 7.046 and DD11, Build 11.0.216.
If you have a machine with windows XP SP3 available with both TI2010, Build 7.046 and DD11, Build
11.0.216 installed, rescue media created from DD11 is working perfectly with both applications on it and with USB keyboard and Mouse support.
Seems to be problems with permissions and or different file locations under a windows 7 installation.
Hopefully creating this rescue media on a windows xp SP3 machine will do the job for you.
Regards, lucky beta testing

Hi Armin, thanx for the information. I'll try this. But for now I can work with the original boot media from download section. Anyway, Acronis has to fix the problems with x64 OSs - I think.

Does anyone know if the new 2011 just released works properly with Win7 x64 OS? Having a backup program with a boot-up restore disk that cannot be used because it does not recognize a USB mouse or keyboard is essentially worthless. Modern PCs apparently do not have the legacy USB options in the Startup menus (mine does not). So will not purchase an upgrade if this is still a problem as noted above on last forum post 7/16 above.
Thanks for any new information. I just want it to work, having to play with an ISO and command line functions is not acceptable.

I've just downloaded the new 2011 release build 8101 on my Win 7, 64 and as soon as I installed this upgrade at the end of the install I lost my mouse and could not click on finish. I forved a reboot and all was fine until I loaded my now version TIH 2011 build 8101 and during the load, I again lost my mouse. I'm mad as hell with Acronis again, I don't know if they care about their clients. No quality assurance..... I paid for the upgrade and I had to delete this new copy from my PC, and surprise my previous working version was also deleted which was TIH 2010 during the TIH 2011 upgrade.
I hope that someone out there wakes up and issues a patch to get this fixed ASAP!

Max,
Build 8101 belongs to ATIH 11 not ATIH 2011 which is build 6857. ATIH 11 is not Win7 64 bit ready and so it is no surprise if there are problems installing or running it.

Colin,
So this misleading advertisement! Go back and check the web site page and it clearly indicates that it is Window 7 compatible for all versions!
In the meantime I paid for an upgrade that is not working! and I wasted several hours installing, deinstalling and at the end reinstalling my previous version. Big waste of time, and a bad opinion about Acronis! How can I get my money back?

Max,
I think you missed that I said TI 11 is not Windows 7 compatible - TI 11 came out in the year 2007. The current version of Acronis True Image Home is version 2011 this is not, I repeat NOT the same as TI 11.
Version 2011 IS is Windows 7 compatible.
So the question remains, have you somehow managed to purchase version 11:8101 (the last build in 2008 of TI 11) or have you in fact purchased TIH 2011:6857 (released 1 June 2011)?
Perhaps a screen shot of the TIH GUI posted here would help as the two GUI's are completely different.
If you have purchased TIH 2011, and it reports itself as v11 the next question has to be did you download the product from the Acronis website or purchase at a retailer or second hand? What version is your previous version, TIH 2010 was the first official W7 ready product, though there are special versions of TIH 2009 around that have been made W7 ready retrospectively.
Another way of deciding what version you actually have is that TIH 2011 requires a 64 digit serial number whereas TIH 11 only has a 25 digit serial number.

Colin,
The version that I have downloaded is Acronis True Image Home 2011 Upgrade build 6867 and it failed after the install on my Win 7, 64 PC, losing my mouse access. I did downloaded it from the Acronis web site. and the attached clip states that all Win 7 editions are compatible.
After several tries, I went back to my previous version and installed it on my Win 7, 64 and it runs OK, it is Acronis True Image Home 2010 build 7,154 and yes I had to enter the long serial numbers. I also had the enter the long serial numbers to activate the Acronis True Home 2011 Upgrade.
The invoicing was done with Cleverbridge, the e-commerce firm associated with invoicing Acronis clients from the web site.
I hope that I've cleared all confusions, but the fact remains: If you read the requirements displayed on the attached clip for the web page, it clearly states that 2011 is Win 7 compatible on all editions and it's NOT!
How can I get refunded?

Max,
To get a refund you log into your account and contact support choosing the appropriate selection.
As you can see from my signature I use W7 64bit in both Ult and Pro versions and 2011 works on my system. It is strange for the Windows based version to interfere with the mouse and keyboard - if the problem was with the bootable media that would be more understandable.
So, is your PC a 'Heinz 57' type or is it a brand name such as Dell?
What chipset does your motherboard use?
Is your copy of Windows a standard copy and not part of a SOE provided by an IT department?
Are there any error messages listed in Windows Event Manager or in the MSI log of the Acronis installer?

Colin,
No I buit this PC myself and it's not my firts PC, I've buit several PCs over the years. this one is based on an Intel® Desktop Board DP55KG and using and Intel Core i7 CPU K 875@ 2.93 GHz with 16 Gb of memory running Win 64 Ultimate and using 1.8 TB storage on Raid 10 config. I must say that my keyboard and mouse are wireless form Logitech and using a bluetoth. I should also say that my first reaction was that bluetoth was disconnect and I tried connecting and USB mouse but that did not correct it.
Any ideas?

Max,
I honestly don't know how TIH can cause a problem with a bluetooth device in Windows, I can only suggest you raise a support ticket if you are still within the 30 day purchase period.

You just have to disable (uncheck) the option "Enable absolute pointing device" (last option under Motherboard, Extended Functionality) under your virtual machine System settings in Oracle VirtualBox, reboot the virtual machine and should work.
I use Oracle VirtualBox 4.1.18 r78361

Hi there.
Acronis DD11 update 2.
In Win7 mode it works OK.
Rescue media (CD) seams to work, but after a couple af minutes, a message comes up with
"not supportet, H=37,9 kHZ; V=85,2 HZ",
and I can't go any further.
I suspect the BIOS could be the problem, (Asrock FM2A55M-HD+).
In winXP, -on another computer- there was no problem.

Hello Bent,
sorry for the delay with answer!
In your case adjusting of video mode in bootable media should help. Please refer to user guide for instructions (page 60).
Thank you.
