Cannot resize different partitions on a 1 GB external HDD. Help needed.

Thread needs solution

I have DD 11 Home Upgrade #216 and I would like to change the partition size of an 1 TB external HDD of two volumes (currently 126 GB (F-drive) and 804 (G-drive) (note: Windows Explorer file sizes)

I would like to resize F to 220 GB and G to 710 GB, so the 1 TB remain.
I have run DD11 Home in both normal- and admin-mode, I can resize the volumes, however after rebooting and the DOS screen the 'current' activity (resizing F-drive) remains at 0% and doesn't count up to 100% so that the G-drive gets smaller.

Is there an issue that Disk Director 11 Home Upgrade cannot handle 1 TB external harddrives? Or is something else here the case and how do I solve this?

Thx!

Have you tried booting to the DD CD and resizing instead of using DD in Windows?

Also, it's recommended to create an Entire Disk Image backup (or at least backup your important files) before making partitioning changes.

I am using XP SP3, DD11, and have had no problems at all creating, moving, or resizing partitions on my 1TB external drive so far.

@MudCrab; I downloaded the Upgrade v11 version, so I have no retail CD. How can I burn one and do the partitioning froma DOSish view?

@bin; do you partition resize etc from within Windows or do you bot from CD?

I have always had DD10 and now DD11 on my 'True Image' boot CD's but never had to use it. So yes, I've performed all operations from within Windows.

After turning my AV off in Windows and starter DD in admin mode, my PC rebooted. Now in DOS mode it is slowly progressing the current operation... seems like it's working.
Thx for the replies.
