Can't change first partition

Thread needs solution

I have an OS on the first partition (Primary), but I would like to make a new (Logical) partition as the first partition. Any way I try to do it, ADDS10 won't let me. It will change to show that the first partition is full, and it won't let me do anything.
My goal is to have OSSelector on its own partition. I would like to install a fourth OS, BUT I like to hide ALL other OSs from it. When I tried to install Win7 64, it said it had to modify a file(s) on the first partition, but it is another OS, and I don't want it to see it.

So basically, how can I make a new logical partition, at the beginning of the first disk? If I manage to do this, and install OSSelector there, will it find my 3 existing OSs (XP,Vista,WIN7 32), without any extra steps? A big thank you in advance.

What you are trying to do will created "mixed" Primary and Logical partitions. This isn't a problem for DD, but will mean you won't be able to use Disk Management to make any partitioning changes.

What's wrong with using P: for OSS? The OSS files take up very little space. If you didn't want to use P:, you could resize P: a little smaller and create another Logical partition there for OSS.

What boot manager are you currently using for XP, Vista, and Windows 7? The Windows 7 boot manager?

OSS won't automatically detect Windows 7. In addition, if you're using the Windows boot manager, some booting files may need to be moved to get the isolation you want between the operating systems.

Did you try resizing H: smaller and then creating the new Logical partition or did you try to apply all the changes at once?

Have you run chkdsk /f on the H: partition to check for any file system errors?
