I've just bought a new HP machine running on windows 7 64B. i have Acronis Disk 10.
i was able to increase the size of one partition.
but everytime i try to create a new partition i get this message that says that i can not do it because there isnt enough FREE space in the drive i'm trying to use , althou it has 350 Giga free.

Adham:

You should not install and use version 10 of Disk Director on Windows 7. Version 10 is old and was released years before Windows 7 came out. Results can be unpredictable.

You could probably get away with running it from the bootable recovery media, but keep in mind that DD 10 uses the older partitioning rules when creating and modifying partitions, while Windows 7 Disk Management expects that the newer rules are used. So you are potentially asking for problems if you try to use both tools on the same disk.

Disk Director version 11 is compatible with Windows 7, or if your needs are simple you could just use Windows Disk Management.

You may have four Primary partitions already. If so, you won't be able to create another partition regardless of how much Unallocated space is available. You would need to convert a partition to Logical and then you could create another Logical. Make sure to backup the drive first, before making partitioning changes.

Thank you both , i actually realized that both your comments were the problems. now i run DD 11 and changed one of the 4 partitions to be able to add a new one.

thanks again all is good now :-)
