Change BCD parameters after OSS installation

Thread needs solution

Hello all,

I've installed and activated OSS in a multiboot environment with two Windows 7 installations. OSS correctly chainloads BCD for both systems. However, I'm not able to change the BCD settings of the systems. I've tried to use bcdedit and the changes are correctly saved, however, after a reboot the system still starts with the old parameters. I am sure that I have edited the right BCD. Does OSS create it's own BCD? If so, how can I change it? Or any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

Hello Caroline,

this is a designed behavior. When OS Selector is installed it "protects" boot settings file (C:\Boot\BCD) and every time computer starts, loads the
original version of that file, copied when OS Selector was activated.

To make the BCD file editable again please follow these steps:

- run OS where OS Selector installed
- run OS Selector
- open properties of target OS
- click on OS icon
- then choose properties from Operations panel or from popup menu of OS icon
- Select Files in the list

- choose BCD file and click on "properties"
- set check box on "Yes, this file is changeable"

- apply changes and close OS Selector

Thank you.
