Cloning to upgrade 7 to 10

Thread needs solution

I want to clone my c drive with Win 7 to a USB drive; then upgrade to 10. I am also creating a system image for further back up.

Will  Win 10 use the same NT signature, or change it? In other words, will I have to keep the USB drive un-plugged after the upgrade. I would like to be able to access Win 7, if 10 does not support my printers etc.

I had Acronis OS Selector when I upgraded to Win 7, but it was removed by ADD 12; after the upgrade to Win 7, the Win XP drive was re-designated to e. I could still access it through AOSS.

Any insight will be apprerciated. Thank you.

Hello Vidro,

After the cloning you'll get two identical drives with the same signature, the drives thus will conflict when attached to the same system. If you want to build a dual-boot system, I'd recommend to follow the instructions from this article and install Acronis OS Selector. You can have Acronis Disk Direktor 11 on your system and use Aconis Disk Direktor 12 as a bootable media. In this case you'll benefit from both 11 and 12 version.

Thank you,
