Compatibilty with Windows7

Thread needs solution

I purchased DD suite 10 on october 4th, update 2239 being dated Sep, 28 I could not even imagine it will not be compatible with W7 to be released less than on month later. What a strange planning indeed!!!

When a DD release working with W7 is expected and will I be able to update at no charge ?

DD 10 has been available for a long, long, long time. The last "update" (build 2,239) was to supposedly fix a few things (mainly compatibility with newer versions of TI and to block installing on Windows 7), but it broke some major things instead. If Acronis is going to continue selling DD 10, they need to make it VERY CLEAR that Windows 7 is not supported.

Acronis doesn't release release dates for new versions or updates.

hello, I too have tried to install version 2239, but does not work, but the old 2160 version is already installed.

I also have Build 2160 installed on Win 7, so far without issues. Why make recent builds incompatible? It seems like a money making ploy

Hello all,

Thank you for using Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.0

Actually, this thread duplicates another one in this forum. I have replied there today, please see the post #20 of this thread.

Thank you.

Hello Oleg

Thanks for your message, I read carefully the whole thread you indicate.
However the solution you mentionned (isolinux etc...) is not an answer at all.
Did Acronis learn about W7 only on October 22nd ?
Obviously a 25% discount for a working release of a piece of sotware purchased one month ago will be a joke (a bad one indeed).

Please report to yr management.

Hello Daniel,

Thank you for your response.

Every request concerning a discount or providing with a free upgrade needs a separate attention. If you feel that you are eligible for free upgrade, please submit a request to Acroinis Customer Service Department after the next version release. The appropriate person will take into consideration your opinion and will provide you with a possible solution.

I have reported about your post to our management.

Thank you.

I've just bought Version 10. There was no indication that it didn't support Windows 7. Can you please advise what i should do

Hello Oleg,

Thank you for the information you have provided on more than one thread about DiskDirector Suite 10 compatability with Win 7. It is clear that Build 2160 does install in Win 7 and the upgrade Build 2239 Does not. The knowledge base clearly states that Version 10 is not compatable, but it does not distinguish betweeen Builds 2160 and 2239. So my remaining question is this: Is it safe to use Build 2160 in Win 7 after it appears to install normally and opens normally? Or is there any potential that it could harm my system?

Thank you.

Tom

Hello all,

Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.

Bill and Perry,

Please see this post for more information. I have described the solution on how to use Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.0 with Windows 7.

Tom,

Actually, if you are able to install build #2160 onto Windows 7 and open the program, I do not expect any problems in using the software, it shouldn't harm your system. The main difference is that in the case of malfunction we are unable to enforce it to work as you expect, and we do not have tools or instruction on how do it, because this operating system is not officially supported. Therefore, we are unable to provide you with a reliable support if something goes wrong.

From the other hand, Acronis Booting Media can execute all operations that you want without installing the program in Windows environment.

Please do not hesitate to ask additional questions if the provided information is not clear or you need a further assistance.

Thank you.

Hello Oleg,

I am a registered Disk Director 10 Suite user - anxiously waiting for release of the Win7 supported version to be released.

I would like to use the build 2160 Boot Disc as described in the meantime.

I have the original Install SW installer and Boot disk on CD still but the boot disk does not recognise my HDD's - I get error message saying No Disk Drives Found.

How do I arrange for an updated 2160 boot disc to be made available to me?

Thanks.

I also downloaded the iso #2160 but unfortunalety the safe mode is not implemented. Why not? It's the only way to access my AHCI drives in my computer (Asus P5Q Pro Turbo, Chipset P45).

So i had to download the whole setup and install it on a Win XP machine. There i could burn a boot cd with safe mode.

December gone....
When is the Version 11 going to be released????????
Huuuummm... Do you have OLD MS Ececs working at your place?
Seems I remember MS Claiming a lot of same things in the olden days... VAPORWARE????

Whilst it is irksome that DD11 has yet to make an appearance, I have posted somewhere else on here that I hope the delay is due to thorough beta testing.

The last thing that would be wanted is for DD11 to be rushed out and the user to find that if a dead fish is waved during a blue moon, your system gets hosed.

I also hope they are looking carefully at OSS, so that (assuming it still exists in v11) it is more robust and perhaps easier to set up.

Hello all,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help. Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.

It'sme,
I am sending a file to you via Private Messages, please create a new Acronis Bootable Media and see if the issue remains.

Forellenblau,
You are correct, the safe version is not included into the file available after logging in to your account. The safe version is based on DOS, and the full version is based on ISOLINUX. As you can see, the files are based on different environments. I will submit a request to the appropriate department, maybe, the possibility to download the safe version will be implemented in the future.

Donny and Colin,
We are working on the next version release, we will release the software as soon as possible, but today the exact date of the release is unknown.
Please do not hesitate to ask additional questions if the provided information is not clear or you need a further assistance.
Thank you.

Oleg,

I installed DD version 10, build 2160 on my Windows 7 machine with no problems. Actually I had not noticed that DD did not yet support Windows 7.

Contrary to your expectation ("I do not expect any problems in using the software"), two (of four) logical drives that I moved lost their format, and consquently all of their data.

I find it a pity that DD installs on Windows 7 if it cannot perform error free.

Make it sticky :-(

Onny and Colin,

Thanks for your offer of help. But in the meantime I have reinstalled using BootIt partition copy. I had been using XOSL together with Gparted. But BootIt provides a better solution.
