Creating BartPE Media with Acronis Disk Director 11 ???

I think you may perhaps be slightly confused about the available "bootable media" and "free plugins"downloads. There is no separate Bart PE plugin download for DD11 (at least not yet) but the main download for setting up DD11 does include and install a WinPE sub-folder onto your hard drive as Program Files\Common Files\Acronis\DiskDirector\WinPE.

Within that sub-folder, you'll find the following files that can be used as "patterns" for creating your own Bart PE or other PE1 plugin: acronis._inf, acronis.htm and acronis_nu2menu.xml. Be aware, however, that DD11 appears unable to handle environment variables (0x2 REG_EXPAND_SZ entries) in the registry for specifying its component locations.

I haven't actually tried to overcome that limitation using Bart PE and so can't offer any specific advice on that particular route. Using another similar PE1 "brand" called LiveXP, however, the solution is simply to use RegAddBoot in order to get explicit component locations into the registry when the preinstallation environment is booted. If you want to try that approach, see the forum thread that I posted at boot-land.net on the subject.

There are no available plugins for BartPE for DD11 at this time so far as I know.

Now that this has come up twice, could someone (Ilya? Anton? Oleg?) perhaps comment if there can be any accomodation for BartPE plugins for DD11 like were available for DD10? Providing WinPE capability is very nice, but there are still some folks who prefer BartPE - they just want to add DD11 to a BartPE build.

I do understand that you want to include DD11 in a PE1 preinstallation environment built with the Bart PE Builder. It has been a long time since I've used it myself, but I seem to recall that, when booted, Bart PE uses a single drive letter for everything (OS, programs, user files and menu items). If so, those WinPE files that I pointed to might work okay for inclusion as a Bart PE plugin just as they are without any changes at all. You may need to rename acronis._inf to acronis.inf, or acronisdd.inf if you prefer. It is already set internally (Enable=1) for PEBuilder inclusion.

It's certainly worth a try. If you don't want to waste a blank CD for purposes of testing a trial Bart PE build, you could probably experiment using VMWare or some other virtual machine instead, but I can't remember how that's done with Bart PE.

Those Acronis DD10 instructions will NOT work for creating a DD11 plugin for Bart PEBuilder or any other PE1 preinstallation environment builder. Neither the instructions themselves nor their linked download package (ZIP file containing DiskDirector.inf and DiskDirector_nu2menu.xml) are correct for DD11.

All of the DD11 files that you need (including the .inf and .xml files) are installed by the main application's set-up process into the Program Files\Common Files\Acronis\DiskDirector\WinPE folder as I said. The contents of that folder and all of its subfolders are what you need to copy to a subfolder under your PEBuilder installation's plugins folder.

Also, ignore the part of the instructions about copying the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Acronis\Acronis Disk Director\MAIN\ "password" and "key" values from your registry to the .inf file. DD11 doesn't use them. What you may want instead is the "enterprise" value from your registry's HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Acronis\DiskDirector key, although the acronis._inf file that is provided doesn't actually call for any such registry entry.

Ah, I see that you did follow my reference to my Boot-Land LiveXP forum thread. Your answers here made me think that you had rejected that suggestion and were following the old Acronis DD10 instructions which definitely will not work for DD11.

Anyhow, all's well that ends well. Glad you got it working.

Thank you AMG for the link and dera (from boot-land.net) for his BartPE Plugin. :-)

Btw i have done 3 improvements to dera's plugin, so the following is also possible now:

1. Onlinehelp (F1) is now working.
2. Menu Help/Systeminformation is now working
3. RecoveryExpert (Button and Menu) is now working without installing Disk Director to X:\Program Files\Acronis\DiskDirector. For this i wrote a patch for ManagementConsole.exe.

If anyone interested to test this modified plugin send me a pm. I plan to post it here in forum after some tests.
