DD Suite and Windows 7 - Don't do it...

Thread needs solution

Before I installed Windows 7 I ran the Windows Advisor and it said "Acronis" would be a problem. It didn't specify if it was TI 2009 or DD that would be the problem - or both - it just said "Acronis."

It was DD. DD ran great on Vista but it brought Windows 7 to it's knees. Twice. I wasn't sure when my system crashed the first time who or what program (or driver) was the problem. I had installed several programs right before the crash so just wasn't sure. By the next clean install of Windows 7 I was sure. I installed each program one at a time so I would know. After I installed DD it blue screened and crashed - I couldn't even get the system to start up again it was so bad. I had it cloned though so I was ready. I knew some program was going to cause this, I just didn't know who - so I was ready.

Don't install DD on Windows 7 even if it ran flawlessly on Vista. Unless of course, you are ready to boot from the rescue CD an image made with Acronis 2010. Which is what I did so I was fine.

Just passing along...

I hope they update this program because it's a good one.

Hello Sandy,

Thank you very much for your feedback! Let me give some official information regarding Windows 7 support in Acronis products:

Currently, it's supported by Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 family (by Workstation and Advanced Server products with some exclusions regarding Windows 7 Home support) and Acronis True Image Home 2010. Please check this article for the detailed information about supported systems of Windows 7 family.

Current version of Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.0 does not support Windows 7, but most probably we will add this option in future update, since we understand that this is important for our customers.

Acronis True Image Home 2009 does not support Windows 7 also. This option will be added to consideration.

In your particular situation, BSOD occurred because of SnapAPI drivers conflict. So if you have installed the product to unsupported system somehow, please try booting in Safe Mode:

1. Click Start and then click Shut Down.

2. In the drop-down list of the Shut Down Windows dialog box, click Restart, and then click OK.

3. When your computer restarts but before Windows launches, press F8.
On a computer that is configured for booting to multiple operating systems, you can press F8 when the boot menu appears.

4. Use the arrow keys to highlight the Safe Mode with Networking option, and then press ENTER.

After that, manually delete the product from your PC. Please check the articles below for the inforamtion on how to do that:

Acronis True Image Home 2009

Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 family

Acronis Disk Director family

Acronis True Image Echo and 9.1 family

Please let me know if you have any additional questions, I would like to make sure that all queries concerning our products are resolved.

Best regards,
