DD10. Error E000104F4 No disks found even when booting from cd

Thread needs solution

If I try to resize a partition and then commit, on rebooting I get the above error message. I have tried booting directly from a dd boot disk and on booting get th exact same message. I have never been able to make Acronis Disk Director to work, but have had no problems with True Image including 2 different versions. I have used "free" disk software which has worked. I am curious as to why DD will never work. I have searched through the forums and found this problem to be frequent.
I am using Windows XP SP3. Any ideas why DD cannot "see" my hard disk on reboot?

Which versions of TI see the drives?

DD 10 is quite old and there have not been any recent ISO updates. The drivers most likely don't support your computer.

I am using version 11.0 of True Image, without problems, but I don't understand the relevance, as I am having problems with Acronis Disk Director, not TI. Processor is Intel core 2 duo 2.33mhz. Memory 2Gb, MB is also Intel. I seem to remember, when I first put everything together I had problems formatting the drive. My XP disk would not help so I tried DD which also would not work. I finally resorted to using a Vista disk and which at least could format the drive so I managed to install XP on another partition. Vista was very slow and crashed constantly so I deleted it and have been using XP ever since.

I recently bought a new computer in its entirety which came with Win 7 Home Premium installed, only to find that Adobe CS3, which I use constantly, would not run at all, so I returned it. That is why I want to keep my old computer alive and well and running XP!

The relevance is that TI 11 (whether you mean TI 11 or TI 2011 doesn't really matter here) is newer than DD 10. It is also (most likely) running a newer Linux kernel (TI 2011 for sure would be). It also must have the correct drivers for the system.

Have you ever tried using the Safe Mode version of DD 10?

Yes, I tried XP Safe mode, followed by booting from the DD boot disk I had made, all of which presumably bypasses windows and loads in DOS or Linux. result is always the same ie., cannot find disk. I understand the relevance that TI ver 11 can recognize partitions etc as it is a later program, but so could ver. 10 before it. Why I originally installed DD a few years ago I had the same problems regarding disk recognition. That was why I had abandoned it and partitioned the disk with Vista.
