DD11 -> Windows 7 crashes!

Thread needs solution

Hi there.

I tried to install DD11 on a windows 7 x64 os. During the installation process, windows 7 crahes with a blue screen!! (NON_PAGE_FAULT_AREA...). This happens at home (win7 x64, default sata hdd) as well as in my company (Fujitsu Celsius workstation with OCZ RevoDrive (PCIe SSD))

I hope someone can help.

Best wishes

Steve,

Do you by any chance also have the BSOD first 8 numbers to hand as well (0x????????) ?

Do you have a card reader attached to your PC or a Printer that has a card reader?

Do you have a RAID system, if so hardware or software?

Your problem is probably caused by a driver clash - just have to find out which one.

Hello Colin.

This is the hardware setup:

@Home: Default pc, 1 sata harddisk, no raid, no cardreader, no printer with cardreader. Attached devices: digital piano with usb, apple ipod (not at boot time)
@Work: Workstation, 1 OCZ RevoDrive* (active, boot), 1 additional 500GB sata hdd, built-in cardreader via usb, nothing attached externally

* PCIe card with 2 integrated hardware raid controller (sandforce) and attached onboard ssd

BSOD: 0x00000050

2 Files were shown (rotationally) as problem source: snapman.sys & snman.sys (i hope i remember this right from my home experience)

The card reader is almost certainly the problem for the work one, as for your home PC the digital piano might be - can you try booting without the piano attached or if it isn't attached when you boot, check in Services.msc (Windows button + 'r' type in services.msc) does it have a service?

If non of the above solve the problem the next port of call will be looking in MSconfig under the startup tab and start isolating items that auto start in the background.

Snapman is the main Acronis disk snapshot driver.

What firewall and AV software are you using, if it is based on Alivira this will be a known conflict.

At work the cardreader is deactivated in the device manager, but i will try it again with completely detached card reader. Currently i am at work, so i will try that piano thing when i m back home.

Firewalls none, whether at home nor at work. AV at home is Avira, at work McAfee. In the meanwhile i ve recognized that there are some similar posts for this problem in this forum...

http://forum.acronis.com/forum/17628

i will check that...

Avira is a major problem with all Acronis products at the moment - not sure if there is any workaround available.

I'm wondering if the card reader even if detached might still be a problem if it's drivers are in upper and or lower filters in registry which is where snapman lives.

McAfee is not a known problem.

Post back here your results and then it'll be look at msconfig time.

*edit* I just noticed the hardware RAID on a PCI-e bus, I think there was a post recently where someone had a problem with either TIH 2011 or DD11 with this - it might have been the recovery CD not seeing the drives, I can't recall.

Cardreader is detached, same problem.

Well, i need a product to create a virtual machine from any drive. As i was playing around with VMWare Converter, i recognized that option to convert True Image Backup files into a vm. Thats the reason i gave disk director a try. But i need a solution for my problem, and that quickly. In the meanwhile i found one from another vendor which works. Colin, thanks for your support, but i ve to leave this thread.
