Disk Cloning Problem

Thread needs solution

Please can anyone help.
I have used the cloning facility without problem for over 4.5 years as a protection for by business PC's.

I have just tried to perform a clone on an apparently good drive but the clone fails with chkdsk errors.

Although I know there is an issue with the source disk I still want to make a clone of it before I try and fix the problems

Is there any way that the cloning facility can be run ignoring any disk errors.

If not can anyone advise of an alternative cloning method.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Wrytoff,

cloning of disks with errors is dangerous in itself. As a workaround you can create a backup using trial version of Acronis True Image 2015 with enabled "Ignore bad sectors" option and restore it to a new drive.

Thank you.

Hi, I am trying to clone my disk from a 500gb disk to a new 1 tb drive on Windows 10 using Acronis True Image 2016 having just upgraded to build 6571.  I get the error " Failed to read sector '83,690,535 of hard disk 1.  Try to repeat the operation.  If error persists check the disk using CHKDSK initially and create a backup of the disk.  Direct R/W operation haS FAILED. (0X590001)  Input output error 0xFFF1"  I have retried and run chkdsk which shows no errors on either partition. Any ideas on how to proceed?  Incidently I have only just downloaded this and my account says that my support has run out.  Regards  Anthony

Hello Anthony,

Looks like the disk is damaged to the extent when Acronis program is unable to read from it. Check disk`s so-called S.M.A.R.T. status with utilities like CrystalDiskInfo (http://crystalmark.info/redirect.php?product=CrystalDiskInfo), see if there are any issues.

To get your old drive cloned to the new disk I would suggest you creating a backup with enabled option "Ignore bad sectors", save it on a third disk or to a NAS, then restore it to your new drive.
