Disk Director 12 Bootable Media Fails to Boot
I've used Acronis Disk Director since version 10 in 2007. Been using True Image since version 7 in 2004. I just bought Disk Director 12 on May 28, 2014 - two days ago when it first came out. I've influenced several people to purchase Acronis because I like their products. I know the first customers who purchase the latest versions may have some problems.
With that said, I want to alert Acronis that Disk Director 12 seems to have a huge bug making a bootable media. I’ve tested it on 3 DVDs and a USB flash drive.
First, the file "ti_boot.so" was missing from the folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Acronis\MediaBuilder. This problem was first mentioned by Ludovit Cap is an earlier thread from 5/28/2014. I copied the file to the folder and was able to get past the missing file error and create/burn a bootable DVD. I now wonder if more files are missing.
Second, when booting from the DVD that Disk Director 12 made, it shows the Acronis splash screen and then a screen with the Acronis logo in the upper left screen and “Loading, please wait…” After that, the screen goes black and hangs forever.
I have a bootable DVD with Disk Director 11 and True Image 2013 which work fine, so I know my hardware is good. Disk Director 12 works from within Windows. True Image 2014 works in Windows as well. The 32-bit and 64-bit versions of ADD12 fail when run from bootable media only.
I am running RAID 0 with a pair of OCZ Technology 128GB Vertex 4 SSDs. Windows 8.1 Update, ASRock Extreme 4 motherboard with the latest UEFI and BIOS version 2.90.

I just downloaded and installed build 3223. It still does not work as described in my first message. Same problem.

Thank you for your posting, David!
I've created a support case for you regarding black screen while booting from Linux-based media. You will be contacted as soon as possible.

Same problem with Win7- 64 PE. When booting the created bootable CD, it hangs, showing system 32.

Hello Teunis,
the issue is definitely not the same because David experiences difficulties with Linux-based media.
Can you please create a new thread and post there a full error message/photo?
Thank you.

Well I took another stab at creating a DD12 WinPE-based bootable media. It works! This leaves me wondering why it didn't work before. I vaguely recall downloading and installing WinPE 5.1 directly from Microsoft - rather than following the link DD12 provided. When creating bootable media for the first time, DD12 has a link to install WinPE 5.0 but I got 5.1 instead. Newer is better -right? I don't remember exactly the details and didn't go back to verify whether 5.1 is compatible with DD12.
However, DD12 Linux-based media still does not boot for my computer. I can live with that - though I would like to have the Linux-based media so that ATI 14 and DD12 can be on the same disk - or even a USB flash stick.
I'll consider this thread closed and just hope for further bug fixes to DD12 in the future. (e.g. 1. DD12 get system information wizard crashes with a critical error, but doesn't take down DD12 with it. 2. DD12 Linux-based bootable media doesn't work.)

Hi David,
Since such issues are highly dependent on specific environment we are not able to reproduce them locally and will need additional information from your system.
I see that your support case was closed. Please let me know if the problems with Linux-based media and system information tool crush are still present. If you are willing to investigate them please contact me via PM.
Thank you.

David: I have the same problem in Windows 7, with the bootable CD I created from my DD12 Build 3223 download. The splash screen comes up, after I've picked the version I want to load (32-bit or 64-bit), then "Acronis: Loading, please wait...", then nothing, and my DVD drive locks up.
How long has this build been made available? Obviously they are long overdue for a new build. My guess is that this latest build wasn't as properly tested as all the builds for DD11, because my bootable from that version works.
