DISK DIRECTOR 12 STILL CAN'T READ MY 3TB DRIVES???

Thread needs solution

Hi,

Does anyone have any feedback as to why DD12 which I just installed cannot read my 3TB USB 3.0 drives?

This was why I stopped using DD11!

Thanks so much.

Ok, support were very helpful but told me that DD12 can't read drives with 4096 bytes/sector.

Time for a refund I'm afraid.

Hello Al,

you are right, disks with logical sector size different from 512 byte are still not supported. However, size of a logical sector usually depends on connection interface and as a workaround you can connect the disk directly to the disk controller on the motherboard via SATA/IDE/SAS/FC cables.

Please find more details in this article.

Thank you.

I can operate on my Seagate Backup Plus Drive with Disk Director 10, do you have a copy; also, with the free copy of EaseUS Partition Manager available from www.easeus.com.

Neither DDS 10 nor EaseUS PM can change cluster size on 3T disks, though. I have a workaround for it, I think.

And WHY is that? The OS reads it perfectly fine! It simply means that no one has fixed this limitation in the Disk Director program. Acronis should be ashamed of itself letting this go to market with such a glaring fault!

I would suspect that really puts a severe limit on the portability of buying a USB 3.0 portable drive! That is the Wrong Answer to people who in good faith spent money buying the Disk Director 12 program. Limitations of a previous release should be corrected in new releases going forward. This was a problem in DD11 and is the reason some of us bought the NEW DD12. WHy would anyone buy a new version when it is still broken?

If you wish to claim your product is Windows 7/8/10 Certified, then it should support all the formats that the OS supports. 'Nuff said.

DD11 and DD12 are not certified IMO.

Hello Chastity,

Thank you for your feedback. Support for 4K native drives is not required for Windows certification.

We are looking into possibilities of implementing support for these disks in the next version of the program.

Slava

Hello Slava,

what do you mean with "next version"?  The next update of DD12 or DD13?  I own DD12 and I think, it's not reasonable to have to buy a new version, just to have this basic feature.

Hello Wilfried,

We expect the support of 4k drives in the next update within the version 12, however there is still no exact ETA.

Hello,

now, we are 6 month later.  Any idea, when an update will be released?  Obviously, I’m not alone with this problem.

In reply to by truwrikodrorow…

It's 1 year and 4 months later, and my 4GB Seagate External is still unrecognized because of the 4K native size issue.

By next version I guess they mean 13.
