Is Disk Director appropriate here?
Hello,
I am a network administrator. We have a "power user" here at my company who has a Dell Engineering workstation with a RAID controller in it. The workstation is running Windows 7 pro.
Recently, due to a disaster, we had to place the OS image onto two new hard drives. The image was created using Windows Backup. After I put the two factory hard drvies (RAID 1 Array-Intel SAS contoller running in SATA mode with SATA drives) back into the machine, Windows PE refused to put the image back onto the hard drive because the OS image that the Windows Backup created was slightly larger than the formatted size fo the RAID array. I purchased two bigger drives at the local computer store to put the OS image back onto the machine. However, we need to put the image back onto the factory hard drives, as the third party drives that currently hold the operating system are not covered under the 3 year Dell warranty.
I know Disk Director can resize a partition, but can the basic ($79.99) version work with a RAID array, and allow us to do a bare metal restore onto the factory hard drives?
Second, if we wanted to own about 3-4 copies of Disk Director at my company (so that the I.T. dept. could use it to do something like move a workstation OS image onto a solid state drive), what would be the most cost effective method to license it?
Third, if we ordered Acronis TruImage in one of the pro versions, do we get all the Disk Director functions in it?
Thank you!
