Disk Director freezes in Windows 7

Thread needs solution

I have a Samsung SSD 840 with two partitions and Samsung Magician software. If I try to resize one partition leaving unallocated space and then create a partition in that space Disk director will not complete the operations stopping at stage 3. Even if I try just to resize to create the unallocated space it will freeze. The only way to cancel the process is via the Task manager. This occurs in Windows 7 only, if I use a boot version of Disk Director all functions correctly. I wonder if there is a problem with the Samsung SSD or Magician cause this malfunction. It has not happened before with a conventional hard drive.

The purpose of creating the unallocated space is for over provisioning of the SSD. It seems that when Windows starts that the space is taken by the Samsung software, therefore it appears that this may cause a clash with Disk Director during disk re-allocation under Windows. The work around is to use the DD boot disk, out of the Windows operation.
