Disk Director hasn't REALLY resize my partition

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I got a problem with Acronis Disk Director 11 home ...
I bought a computer to a friend ...with a 500Gb HDD in it... it was partitionned like this :

part 1 : 50Gb - Windows 7 64bit
part 2 : 450Gb - empty

I wanted a much bigger partition for windows without re-installing the whooooole thing .... so I decided to resize the 50Gb partition with Disk Director ... I did it and I ended up with a 500Gb partition for windows ....

Now I DO see in Disk Director that my hard drive is DYNAMIC and my 500Gb windows partition is simple/spanned ... In the Windows Disk Manager I also see the 500Gb partition .... so everything is supposed to be fine ....

Yesterday I kept installing thing on my computer and had a message saying that my partition (the one that is supposed to be 500Gb) is FULL !!!

I right clicked on the C drive and checked the properties and it sayd that I only have 2Gb of free space out of 50Gb !!!!!!!!!! which means my windows partition is NOT 500Gb but it is still 50Gb .... and I keep seing it as a 500Gb in both Disk Director and Disk Manager .....

So my question is .... What is wrong and how can I REALLY resize my partition ?

Thanks in advance.

Hopefully, you have a current backup image of the drive. If not, it's recommended to create one.

You could try using Disk Management to Shrink the partition just a bit (a few MB) and then Extend it back to full size.

Running chkdsk /f on the partition may also help.

The same thing happened to me last night. I "resized" my 50GB WinXP C: partition to 250GB, or so I thought. I'm very disappointed in DD11.

Did anyone find a solution other than restoring/reinstalling?

I'm NOT happy!

I wanted to update this post with my solution in case others are having the same problem.

I installed Easus' Partition Manager (free for home users) and told it to resize my C: partition. It apparently had no problem, as Windows Explorer, Windows Disk Manager, Acronis' DD, and it all now report the partition size to be 250GB.
