Disk Director Server 10 and Check Partition not avaiable in boot

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I have just downloaded a trial version of Disk Director Server 10. I have noticed that in Windows version there is a function called "Check Partition" in which is possible to check partition for errors. In the boot version this function is not present, I would like to know if it is a limitation due to the trial version or not.

Thank You

Best Regards

Fabio:

I'm not familiar with the server version of Disk Director 10, but in the regular version there are a couple of features that only work in Windows. One is Check Partition which only calls the Windows function chkdsk. The other is Defragment, which calls the Windows defragmenter. Both of these functions only work while running the Windows version of Disk Director. Neither function works in the boot version of Disk Director. I assume that the server version has the same limitations.

Thank you Kolo!

Can you suggest me a software that can check / repair files? I cannot run neither checkdisk because the recovery consolle of Windows 2003 cd can't load (there are some system files missing). It has to be compatible with ServerRAID card.

Thank you so much

Fabio

Fabio:

Do you have a Vista DVD or a Windows 7 RC DVD? Both are newer than Sever 2003 and have many more drivers in the basic build. If not, there are ISO images of the Vista recovery environment available on various sites like this one. If you are lucky, one of these will have the RAID drivers that your server needs.

If you have or can borrow one of these, boot your server from the DVD or the Vista recovery CD and get to a command prompt. From there you can run chkdsk to try to repair any file damage on the server's disk.

Thank you,

unfortunately I have no Vista DVD. I have created a floppy with ServeRAID drivers, now I am running checkdisk. Befone I haven't tried to specify 3rd party drivers because I noticed that "IBM ServerRAID" driver was loaded by default in windows 2003 boot cd, but evidently this version was not compatible with my card! :(

Now checkdisk is still running, I hope I'll solve my problem!

Thank you
