Disk director stuck in loop

Thread needs solution

Not having much luck with Acronis problems,

whilst tying to sort out a True Image problem I used Disk director to change some drive letters. On re- boot I now get a message stating Error while loading configuration file and some code numbers.

It asks to me to reboot but the same thing keeps happening.

I desperately need advice on how to get out of this problem.

I've managed to get into the registry on my XP machine with a knoppix disk but i can't work out what needs updating, any ideas most welcomed.

Geoff

Have you read this thread? DD is probably "stuck" on the auto-run files.

If autopart.exe exists you could try deleting it using Knoppix and then see if you can get into Windows (see this post).

Thanks MudCrab

I can see the file in knoppix but can't delete it.

Also I can get into the registry but can't find BootExecute mentioned.

I haven't got an original windows xp cd either.

Failing the above I do have a backup of the C drive partition, could I just overwrite the existing one?

Geoff

I've managed to get back into windows using last known good configuration.

I've looked at BootExecute in registry and it shows the following,

autocheck autochk /m \??\I: autocheck autochk * Isdelete

Do I need to alter this to autocheck autochk *

Thanks

Geoff
