EEE PC Extending the C Drive

Thread needs solution

Hi,
I currently have an EEE PC 701 with a 4GB Primary Master Drive (C:) and have now added a 32GB Secondary Master Drive (D:). I would like to be able to extend the C Drive by 20GB by using space from the D: drive.

I'm using Disk Director 11 and have tried the 'Move' process by selecting the C: drive and choosing 'Move'. After the first step the next screen shows me the drives but they are all greyed out. I cannot select the D: drive. I've also tried the 'Merge' option but again the D: drive is greyed out.

The D: drive is showing as File System NTFS and Primary MBR. All drives are reported as Heathly.

Any help or recommendations would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Paul

Paul:

You cannot combine two basic volumes into one large volume. If you really want to do this you have to convert each of the disks into dynamic volumes, then combine the two into a spanned volume. The user's guide for Disk Director has some information about how to do this (see the links on the left side of this page) or you can look up some of the Microsoft articles about dynamic disks online.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for your response, much appreciated. I'll have a look at creating them as dynamic disks.

Thanks again
Paul
