Error: W000101F9?!

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I'm receiving this error when trying to use Acronis Disk Director on a Dell PC that I am setting up for a friend:

"Error: W000101F9: Detected unsupported hard disk drive.
Acronis Disk Director Suite does not support Windows Dynamic Disk, EZ-Drives, etc. Acronis Director Suite will not be able to access these hard disk drives."

The 80 GB HD is read to be formated GUID and not MBR!?

Is there anyway to correct this so that I can make partitions without trying a total re-install?

Thanks,

John

As you have just discovered DD10 doesn't work with GUID type drives.

You will need to alter the Dynamic drive to a basic drive.

I would strongly suggest before trying to alter the drive without destroying the data (this is possible but with varying results) is to make a complete disk image. If you have True Image then you can make a sector by sector backup to another drive. That drive will need to be at least 60GB in size.

If you search on the internet, you will find there is a method that will allow you to switch the drive back into being an MBR based one. However, there is always the risk data will be damaged, hence the suggestion about making an image.

Have you actually managed to install DD on the drive or is it coming up with that message at the install stage?

If already installed what were you trying to use DD to do?

Which build of DD are you using (though neither support GUID disks)?
