Failed to obtain actual information about the disk sub system

Thread needs solution

I'm doing some work migrating some old systems off XP and I have several systems that I am playing with.

When I load DD, I get the following error message:

Failed to obtain actual information about the disk sub system

Details:

Code: 9,764,873(0x950009)
Module: C:\Program Files\Acronis\DiskDirector\mmsBundle.dll
Message: Failed to create View.

Code: 3,539,346(0x360192)
Message: Fdisk operation has failed.

Code: 1,098,775(0x10C417)
Message: TEXT_FDISK_ERROR_WINDOWS_VOLUMES_REFRESH_SNAPAPI_OPENVOLUME

Code: 65,520(0xFFF0)
Message: The system cannot find the file specified

There is nothing listed in the knowledgebase when I search on the provided eventcode:
Event code: 0x00950009+0x00360192+0x0010C417+0x0000FFF0

Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Thanks in advance.

Regards, Darren

Hey, Darren,

I have a suggestion for you. First, you should read my new post here: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/56808#comment-175427

Although we both got the error: "Failed to obtain actual information about the disk sub system", the error details for my problem were a bit different from yours. Still, the source of your problem MIGHT be the same as mine: Check to see if there's a problem with one of the disk drives on your system, such as it being uninitialized or completely unformatted or something along those lines. Perhaps some trial and error of physically removing disk drives (other than your system/boot drive, of course) might make a difference.

Good luck to you!
