Failed to obtain the required volume information
Using Disk Director 12 for a while but not recently. When trying to resize a partition on a basic disk with two partitions, it will set up OK and require a restart. After restart, nothing has happened, no error prompts but when I open Disk Director and check the log I had multiple entries of:

Hello AFBear,
Currently the only way to overcome the issue that you have faced would be to put Acronis Disk Director 12 on a CD, DVD or USB stick, boot your computer with that media and work with Disk Director from there.
The problem is in reboot that is required when you work with Disk Director in Windows. For some reason the program does not succeed in registering its pending operations in boot chain to be executed upon restart. Normally you would see Disk Director window and progress bar after rebooting, but in your case Disk Director fails to schedule itself to start after reboot, Windows starts normally and nothing changes in your disks/partitions structure.
When working with Disk Director from bootable media, reboot is not required, because Windows operating system is not running at that time, disks/partitions are not locked and you can freely modify them.
Choose Tools - Create Bootable media or see page 53 of the user guide http://www.acronis.com/en-us/download/docs/add12h/userguide/ on how to create bootable CD, DVD or USB pendrive with Disk Director on it.
There are no estimations when original issue with Disk Director failing to perform requested operations after reboot will be resolved. I can only confirm you that it is on our radars and is being worked on.

Same problem here.
I purchased a DDS license 20 minutes ago, to grow my Windows system partition. I need it to convert Win7 to Win7/10 dual-boot. But this seems to be harder than I thought.

And now it is almost 8 months latter, this issue is still here and not resolved. Is this planned for a fix or should I just move to another product?

Hello All,
So it turns out that the issue occurs on very specific environments only and there is no universal solution to fix it once and for all.
If you need to do something with partitions urgently, I suggest you writing a bootable media with Acronis Disk Director on it, booting your computer from that media and performing the necessary operations.

Hi, after some time I try to use ADD12 after a while, getting the same failure as above mentioned. Unfortunately my support ended a few weeks ago, that there is no chance of a solution? It occures newly after upgrading from Win 8.1 Home 64-bit to Win 10 Prof 64-bit. It would be pity to get no hint for fixing this problem permanent without using a bootable media. I've no idea how to get one with the ADD12 on it.....

Thank you for your posting! You can create a bootable media as follows, or download it under your account. To boot your machine from the bootable media you'll need to change the boot order in BIOS.
