Formatting a Windows boot disk

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I am in the process of reinstalling Windows XP.
I partitioned and formatted my disk with ADDH 2011 and activated the partition.
I installed Windows; but when the machine reboots, nothing happens, it stalls. I tried a couple of times with the same result.
Finally, I let the Windows Install process delete, define and format the disk and everything worked OK.
Did I miss an option when using ADDH ?

Thank you.

Did you verify the partition was set Active? If so, it should have worked.

That being said, I recommend that when installing Windows to a DD formatted partition that you use the Windows installer to do a quick format of the partition (it doesn't need to be deleted and recreated). This usually solves these types of problems.

Yes, the partition was Active.
I tried the procedure several times and I recall that once it gave me a strange error for which I could not identify the code through the this site errorcode engine, but it was saying somthing like "Operating system not found". After that I tried the Windows route and it worked OK.
Sorry, I did not keep the 3 sections error code (about 24 digits).
