Full Format Disk with Acronis Disk Director 12?

Thread needs solution

Acronis Disk Director 12
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

I need to Full Format a 6TB hard drive connected via USB 3.

With Windows 10 using the Disk Management snap-in with Full Format (Not Quick Format), Windows will writes zeros and places bad sectors in the bad sector list.

Can Acronis Disk Director 12 do the same?
The manual does not seem to mention this capability.

Thanks in advance.

John:

I can't give you a definitive answer but I did the following experiment using DD 12:

1. Resize a partition to leave a block of unallocated free space.
2. Write FF bytes to a group of sectors in the middle of the unallocated free space using the disk editor in DD 12.
3. Created a new primary NTFS partition out of the free space.
4. Went back and looked at the sectors that I had set to FF and confirmed that they were now all 00 bytes.

So it appears that DD12 does write zeros to sectors when creating a partition. I couldn't think of a way to figure out if bad sectors are remapped since the disk that I tested didn't have any bad sectors.

You could try contacting Acronis Support for a definitive answer. Use the link "How to get Support?" in the leftmost column on this page. You can PM Anna Trifonova directly and she should be able to get you an official answer.
