HELP! DISK DIRECTOR DISABLED NETBOOK

Thread needs solution

win 7 starter netbook has only usb cd or usb floppy. loaded disk director and os selector. upon reboot it finds no bootable partition but also the cursor mechanism is dead. can tab around cursorlessly in that screen, but no way to get to undo it and boot. since no cd or floppy available can't bring in any mbr repair program. how can i get rid of this problem and get my computer back?

What version and build of DD?

Do you have a W7 install DVD to hand?

When you say loaded OS selector and Disk director was this in Windows or from the bootable rescue CD?

If you have the rescue CD are you able to boot it and de-activate the OS selector?

no rescue cd, but would be useless anyway as usb cd won't load with no windows to first recognize the external cd drive. obviously when i installed the older dd and os i messed up the loading. this dd os version doesn't see win 7 as an operating system and thus has nothing to boot into. the question is how do i unload the os selector.

The rescue CD works in Linux, doesn't the BIOS of your Netbook allow booting from USB devices?

What version of DD are you trying to use?

It is probably the OS selector that is causing the problem.

Do you have access to a Win 7 install DVD?

i've ordered the acer repair disk to see whether it can force the usb dvd to turn on and work its stuff to get rid of the mbr messup the os selector caused.

Tom,

If possible I'd suggest finding someone else with a W7 system and ask them to make a Windows recovery CD for you. Just in case the Acer CD is one that wipes the sytem and then re-installs from an OEM image hidden on the drive.
