How to create a partiton on a 500GB drive with Win7 pre-installed

Thread needs solution

Hi all, I have been recommended this software. I am getting a new PC soon that will have a 500GB HD with Win7 pre-installed. I want to partition the drive so that Win7 can be on it's own partition of about 150GB, and the other 350GB will be for everything else. Can I.....

1. Do this with Acronis Disk Director?, or not as the OS will already be installed?
2. If I can do this, can I then make an image of the fresh OS install with Acronis True Image and then store this image on another internal, seperate HD?

Or if anyone has any ideas about how to achieve what I would like to do I would be much appreciated.

Many thanks.

If you just want another partition, in most cases you can just use Disk Management to Shrink the Windows partition and then create a new one in the unallocated space. Windows can do this while it's running. Be aware that Shrink often times will not reduce the size of the partition smaller than half. DD can also be used, but will most likely require a reboot (or you can use the DD CD). DD allows you to resize the partition down to the used amount (a lot further than Shrink).

You can certainly image the drive using TI and save those images on another internal drive.
