How to Remove DD10 from Windows 7 64bit?
Hello: Well, my problem may be comical to you, but here it is. I upgraded from Vista Ult 64 bit some months back. I had DD10 and TImage on it when I went to Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. It worked, but I then upgraded to TRue Image 2010 whereupon DD10 didn't work and affected TI 2010 so I downloaded the latest DD10 and installed it and TI 2010 again and both worked fine on Windows 7 and even adjusted two partition sizes and change them to regular extended partitions from primary. Today I took advantage of the offer to upgrade to Acronis Backup and Security 2010. I removed TI and installed the new Acronis product. I tested DD10 and it wouldn't open. I tried to remove it along with Acronis Backup and Security 2010, but DD10 latest version will not remove and I get the message cannot instal because of incompatible os (win 7). Mighty strange to me. I tried the corrective measues that windows 7 has but nothing fixes it.
How can I remove the DD10? I notice Acronis has the cleanup application, but it is not for Windows 7 and does not work for me.
Is there a list of files to wipe out in the regedit somewhere or an even easier method? Please help.
Clarence

Thank you, MudCrab. I do what I can with this. Meanwhile, it appears that DD10 should not be loaded on Windows 7; is that correct?

See this post by Acronis Support. One of the reasons for the last build of DD 10 was to block installing it on Windows 7.
Some people have successfully installed DD (2,160) into Windows 7. Some people have had nothing but problems. Personally, I don't need the hassle.
I also think that installing into Windows 7 x64 is more likely to cause problems, especially if you need to remove it.

I agree with you. I tried the instruction to manually remove DD10 from windows 7. One of the registry removed resulted in blue screen upon booting and having to restore to an earlier point, which restored without issue.
There are still some of the DD10 files and registry entries, but I suppose I'll have to live with them on my machine.
The Acronis Cleanup Utility won't work on my Windows 7, Ultimate 64bit. It stops at a message saying so.
Well, after tryng time and again to get the complete Acronis Backup and Security 2010 to work, I am giving to go back to True Image Home 2010.
I need to remove two files before I do a clean install of True Image Home: tishell64.dll and timounter64.dll
I disabled two Acronis items in services which I cannot identify. The two dll files are foun under programs\Acronis and will not delete. How can I delete them?
All right, I am back after some time with some very good news. The Acronis Tech. on Acronis Chat took my problem and was happy to inform me that Acronis has modified its Cleanup Unitility to work with windows 7. Here it is: http://kb.acronis.com/content/7533 This utility has more than True Image removal and is complete because it totally cleaned out my registry of Acronis remnants. Great job Acronis! I am happy for you and your customers.
I hope this entry helps others.

I’ve been using DD 10 with XP satisfactorily for awhile so thought it’s time to install it onto a separate HD partition with Win 7 32bit installed and operating good. MY Mistake, it acted worse than I envision a bad virus install all because I DIDN’T unclick the box indicating BOOT SELECTOR. 1st and every time I TRIED to boot it wanted to boot from a floppy which I don’t have. It will go no further even after booting to the XP drive and going into Win7 programs and removing DD 10. it stayed imbedded. After too much time trying I had to admit defeat to the virus DD and delete the Win 7 partition and restore from a good image.

Hello Vischi, if you still need to clean out DD10 remnants, try downloading the cleanup utility. It worked very well for me. I won't reinstal DD10 until a compatable version come out.
Strange thing is that DD10 worked without any issue on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit for several months. I increased the size of the os partition, I wiped two partitions, reformatted them, and changed them from primary partitions to just logical partitions without any problem. Problem with DD10 cropped up when I tried to remove it. Then it was a disaster. All is well now after using the Acronis Cleaner Utility.
