XP SP3
Using a multiple slot card reader Drives H:/I:/J:/K: I put a SD card
in slot H:..... Using Disk Director 10 I changed the size of the card from 16gb down to 4gb.
Committed the change, laptop rebooted a couple of times AND
Drive H: disappeared

Inserting the multi-reader in another computer all is fine.
Inserting it back into the original machine.... No Drive H: (I/J/K are there)
How do I get this Drive letter back?

Is the card still in the slot?

Check in Disk Management. You may just need to assign a drive letter.

Also, note that Windows can have problems with flash drives/cards that are partitioned differently from the Windows standard (one partition for the entire drive/card).

with card either in the slot or nothing in the slot the H: drive does not exist.

Disk Management was able to assign H: ... all back to normal.

Now the question is why did the Acronis pgm not change the partition size.
When I put the card in another machine it was still 16gb and not the target of 4gb.

Why do you want it smaller? There's a very good chance Windows will have problems with it, especially if you create another partition on the drive.
