Mobo can't see HD after ADD moved partition

Thread needs solution

Hi,
Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but give it a try.

Using Acronis Disk Director 11 from WIn7 x64, I moved a partition on a non OS HDD from near the end of the drive to the very front. It was only about 12GB partition. I committed the change and ADD needed a reboot to complete. System rebooted and ADD did it's thing. Then rebooted again. But the motherboard halted in mid POST while scanning the AHCI bus for drives. I changed cables, changed channels connecting the HD to the MB. no change. Stops in mid POST.
My OS is on a SSD that needs AHCI to work. After some googling I thought I might change the MB back to IDE. I pulled the PCI OCZ RevoDrive Ver1 SSD out of the MB, changed to IDE and reconnected the HD, and the MB now sees the drive. Since I have no OS in the system, having the system POST successfully is about all I can do. I could try loading ADD from CD though.
The mobo is a Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3 rev1. The HD in questions is a WD 300GB Raptor SATA3 6gb drive. I was able to connect the drive with WIN7 up with a USB 2.0 adapter and used WD's diagnostic software to test the drive and it reports a good health drive. In any case, I wiped the drive with zeros, and made a new partition from Win7's Computer Management/Drive Management program. It demanded that it make an MBR on the before it would make the portion. I connected the drive again to the MB in AHCI mode and it still does not see the drive.
I think that ADD did something to the drive when it moved the partition.
Suggestions?
